This Forum started life mid June 2017 after a periode of forced silence among the Minisail owners club members, since the thrusted Minisail website and forum went lost due to a server attack.
There is a small chance the old one might rise from the ashes but untill then (still chances are few) I decided to have a new one on line.

Use this topic to ask anything about the forum if you wish.

Some paricularities in case you wonder:
- Who's Harry? It's me: RonnyDG
- The old usernames and login data were not recovered, you will have to register once first. If it's all right for you, use your old alias so we all can recognise you immediately.
(Mind you could have a good reason not to do so, take our dear friend Tom who has reappeared as Notoverthehill)
- The appearance of the forum will change so don't be surprised if it happens.
- The thing is hosted on a Belgian domain but it's likely to move to the proper Minisail.co.uk domain sooner or later
- Before posting make sure you are logged in, else you risk to lose a lot of tekst just by clicking the post-button. In case of doubt, just post some characters like "blabla" and hit the post button. If it appears, you are fine. Don't worry, if I see it I'll delete the test for you, no problem.

That's it,if any questions let me know.
Greetings,
Ronny

Hi all... I'm the new and proud owner of a MiniSail... Having sailed Cadets, Mirrors & Toppers 25 years ago, I'd still never heard of the MiniSail until a few days ago...

Hello Justin,

Welcome to the Minisail forum.
Glad to hear that another Minisail get's taken care of.

As you hadn't heard of them before I think it may be hard for you to tell us what kind of Minisail it is, still there are some discriptions of the types in the Minisail website (The Minisail yearbook from 1975 -> types of Minisails)

Is it ready to go, and do you have the intention to take it out sailing?

Greetings,
Ronny

Thanks RonnyDG... It needs a bit of restoration, but I'm keen to get it out on the water in the next week or two... It's all grp, so I'm guessing that it's one of the later ones... I was wondering if anyone sold an after-market replacement mast-plate before I did a DIY repair?

There are no specific aftermarket parts for Minisails.
So yes you will have to make a DIY mast bottom bung, top and bottom if both are missing. The bottom bung will prevent the mast biting the bottom of the hull, the top bung will prevent the mast filling up in case of a capsize.
Some have succesfully re-shaped Laser bungs, I make mine as shown in this illustration.

Apologies, I missed this. I have a collection of nylon plugs which are exactly the right size for Minisail mast sections which I got off eBay a while back. I expect it's now too late, and I can't respond straight away (I'm on holiday), but I could put them in the post when I get back if it helps.
Regards, David
